Ready to be enlightened? Go on…
Ok ladies, using a foundation brush is not a compulsion. You can opt for a sponge or your fingers too, but do try this brush and see what suits you best. There are two kinds of foundation brushes: Buffing brush & Oval Brush. The buffing brush is dense, and can be pinched flat; best used for flawless and heavier coverage. The oval brush looks like a lollipop and is excellent for getting the most out of a full coverage liquid foundation.
Powder/ Kabuki Brush
This short-handled, densely packed brush is our personal fave! An all-rounder brush, this one is ideal for everything, right from applying powder/mineral foundations to bronzer and blush—a keeper.
A small rounded brush or flat topped brush is just what you need for concealer application. Why? This helps make blending easier and lets you cover every area of your face, which includes inner eye corner, sides of your nose and covers blemishes too.
How to recognize a blush brush? These tend to be either rounded or angled, and on the fluffier side—to pick up just the right amount of product. Gently sashay the bristles into powder blush and apply to the cheeks, brushing it towards your cheekbones. The plus point? You can always use this as a kabuki brush to apply bronzer.
All-over Eyeshadow Brush
Choose a brush slightly smaller than the width of your eyelid and one that is a wee bit fluffy to help blend different colours across the lids evenly. Use it in two different motions: the windscreen wiper sweep or circular motion technique.
A big fan of the highlighter? This is the brush for you! In the shape of a fan, sweep the ends of the bristles across your cheekbones in an upwards motion and get that flawless, glowing skin!
Ready to master your contour routine? Well, not without this brush! The slanted bristles of this brush make it easier to blend your contour powder neatly and precisely below your cheekbones.
Lip Liner Brush
This is such a life saver, especially when you want to remove pigment on your lips from direct usage of lipstick. Applying lipstick straight from the lipstick is fine, but use of a lip liner brush ensures ultra-definition.
Brow Brush/Dual Eyebrow Brush & Lash Comb
Always wondered how your favourite Bollywood stars on Instagram have brows to die for? The angled liner brush is the answer; it is a small, firm and densely packed—perfect #browsfordays. Find a brush with a spoolie at the end and you are sorted!
There are a variety of mascara brushes designed to perfect your lashes. From curling, to volume, separation and length, choose the one that suits your need. We suggest you pick the regular one like in the image below if you are not too sure what you are looking for.
Smudging Brush/Sponge Shadow Brush
Who isn’t a big fan of smoky eyes? Most of us love it! To perfect the smoky eye look, this brush is what you need; it has a rounded top which is perfect for smudging and blending different colours (eyeliner or eyeshadow) across the lower or top lash lines.
Had to include this even though this isn’t a brush. The sponge is a must-have in your makeup kit as it is best used to apply any cream or liquid product. The beauty blender is fabulous when you have ample amount of time to do your makeup as it takes longer to blend compared to a brush, nonetheless it works wonders ladies.
Don’t have a set of makeup brushes yet? Well, now is the time to get yours; a new set of makeup products is not a bad idea either. Well, you are going to need it to make good use of your brushes. Check out our selection of makeup on our website.
