5 Bollywood-inspired Hairstyles To Withstand Monsoons!

Rainy days are not exactly a good time for hair and skin. Let’s face it, the high temperature and moisture in air can play havoc with your hair making it frizzy, greasy and flat. Blow-dries and heat treatments are ineffective in this weather and styling products only make the scalp more greasy. The best deal is to embrace your natural texture and play with cute hairdos. Here are our favourite super easy hairstyles for monsoon:

Add volume to flat hair by backcombing the crown section and pinning it into a high puff. Weave the rest of the hair into a French braid and secure with bright coloured scrunchie.

This chic and rainproof updo is perfect for office hours. Pull all your hair back into a low ponytail and twist it around to form a bun.

The most common complaint in the monsoon is greasy and oily scalp. If you can’t find time to wash your hair, this drape braid on the crown can be a saviour!

Fend off rain-induced frizz with a loose side braid. It’s easy, quick and 100 percent rainproof!

Ponytails don’t have to be boring! Make it chic by adding volume at the crown. Secure the rest of your hair in a high ponytail and flaunt your natural waves.

Foundation Brush

Ok ladies, using a foundation brush is not a compulsion. You can opt for a sponge or your fingers too, but do try this brush and see what suits you best. There are two kinds of foundation brushes: Buffing brush & Oval Brush. The buffing brush is dense, and can be pinched flat; best used for flawless and heavier coverage. The oval brush looks like a lollipop and is excellent for getting the most out of a full coverage liquid foundation.

Oval Brush

Buffing Brush

Powder/ Kabuki Brush

This short-handled, densely packed brush is our personal fave! An all-rounder brush, this one is ideal for everything, right from applying powder/mineral foundations to bronzer and blush—a keeper.

Concealer Brush

A small rounded brush or flat topped brush is just what you need for concealer application. Why? This helps make blending easier and lets you cover every area of your face, which includes inner eye corner, sides of your nose and covers blemishes too.

Blush Brush

How to recognize a blush brush? These tend to be either rounded or angled, and on the fluffier side—to pick up just the right amount of product. Gently sashay the bristles into powder blush and apply to the cheeks, brushing it towards your cheekbones. The plus point? You can always use this as a kabuki brush to apply bronzer.

All-over Eyeshadow Brush

Choose a brush slightly smaller than the width of your eyelid and one that is a wee bit fluffy to help blend different colours across the lids evenly. Use it in two different motions: the windscreen wiper sweep or circular motion technique.

Fan Brush

A big fan of the highlighter? This is the brush for you! In the shape of a fan, sweep the ends of the bristles across your cheekbones in an upwards motion and get that flawless, glowing skin!

Contour Brush

Ready to master your contour routine? Well, not without this brush! The slanted bristles of this brush make it easier to blend your contour powder neatly and precisely below your cheekbones.

Lip Liner Brush

This is such a life saver, especially when you want to remove pigment on your lips from direct usage of lipstick. Applying lipstick straight from the lipstick is fine, but use of a lip liner brush ensures ultra-definition.

Brow Brush/Dual Eyebrow Brush & Lash Comb

Always wondered how your favourite Bollywood stars on Instagram have brows to die for? The angled liner brush is the answer; it is a small, firm and densely packed—perfect #browsfordays. Find a brush with a spoolie at the end and you are sorted!

Mascara Brush

There are a variety of mascara brushes designed to perfect your lashes. From curling, to volume, separation and length, choose the one that suits your need. We suggest you pick the regular one like in the image below if you are not too sure what you are looking for.

Smudging Brush/Sponge Shadow Brush

Who isn’t a big fan of smoky eyes? Most of us love it! To perfect the smoky eye look, this brush is what you need; it has a rounded top which is perfect for smudging and blending different colours (eyeliner or eyeshadow) across the lower or top lash lines.

Sponge

Had to include this even though this isn’t a brush. The sponge is a must-have in your makeup kit as it is best used to apply any cream or liquid product. The beauty blender is fabulous when you have ample amount of time to do your makeup as it takes longer to blend compared to a brush, nonetheless it works wonders ladies.

Don’t have a set of makeup brushes yet? Well, now is the time to get yours; a new set of makeup products is not a bad idea either. Well, you are going to need it to make good use of your brushes. Check out our selection of makeup on our website.

Can You Use More Than One Foundation?

Hey #BGStars, did you know? We recently launched our latest #FilmiFoundations. Find your perfect match and get flawless, radiant-looking skin all day, everyday with the best base in town—our smooth, weightless & hydrating foundation that come in seven shades to match your skin tone. Take a look and in case you don’t find your match, you can mix and match two shades. You read that right, it’s absolutely fine to have & use more than one foundation. It’s beneficial! Care to know why? Read on….

1. Skin Colour Can Change With The Seasons
At first finding the right shade may or may not be the easiest for everyone. Agreed? Secondly, during the summer the skin tends to get a little darker and no matter what, you can’t escape it. Hence, it makes complete sense to have two shades which you can mix and match; this will let you have a shade when you’re at your palest and most tan. How convenient! Nonetheless, the two shades will get you through every season looking picture perfect. Bollyglow’s Filmi Foundations are enriched with Vita Rose, an ingredient from rose stem cell to promote firmer, more elastic and revived skin. Switching up your foundation in the summer and winter is the way to go!

2. You can contour and sculpt
For all the contour aficionados in the house, having two foundations is a must–a light and dark shade. Use the lighter shade on the center of your face and one shade darker to enhance bone structure in a not-so-prominent way, but give a natural finish. A good blend of two foundations can give you the shape and dimension you’ve always wanted to achieve. Try it to believe it!

3. A customized formulation for your skin type
We all have a different skin type-dry, oily, combination and this varies over time. For the drier areas of your skin, you may want to have a foundation that is matte and for the dry areas, especially your cheeks, a moisturising and hydrating foundation is required. Having two kinds of foundations lets you customize a base depending on how your skin feels on that particular day. Pretty cool huh? If this is too much of a hassle for you, then simply opt for a foundation that has a powder-matte finish and is hydrating as well. Bollyglow’s Filmi Foundation has all these properties. Let’s not forget the fabulous coverage it offers that you can forgo the concealing step if you wish.

Having more than one foundation in your makeup kit clearly has a lot of benefits. So if you haven’t got yours already, go shopping for your second favourite base in town. Don’t stress, we have got you covered. Check out our seven foundation shades—Wheat, Oat, Cinnamom, Chai, Cappuccino, Butter, Biscuit online at www.bollyglow.com. How many foundations do you own? Comment below.
